English for Newcomers (LINC program)

*NEW* French for Newcomers (CLIC program)

  • Offered during the day or in the evening, this program can be adapted to your level and availability.
  • Following a test to determine your level of oral and written English or French, you can take part in the classes at your own pace.
  • From the very first lessons, you’ll see your language skills soar.
  • You can start at any time of the year (except August).
  • Courses are offered by distance learning, thanks to a partnership with Collège Nordique.
 

Services offerts

  • A language assessment service based on the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) to determine the language level;
  • Online English or French language training 

Admission

Adult newcomers to Canada:

  • Permanent residents of Canada
  • Persons selected for permanent residence
  • Refugees and protected persons

Steps to take a course

Registration

If you meet the eligibility criteria (adult newcomers to Canada), send an e-mail to coordination-cfq@afnunavut.ca.

Knowledge assessment
You will be asked to take a test to determine your level of oral and written English or French.

Training

Based on the results of your assessment, you’ll be able to take part in courses, with regular progress monitoring to adapt your level of training as required.

The program is fully funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and is made available in Nunavut through a partnership with Collège Nordique.
